Introduction
TeamReady embodies those moments when pain and discomfort fade into the background as individual strengths merge into collective power. Like a rowing crew working in perfect unison or an athlete poised in a four-point stance, it represents a state of focused intensity and complete preparation for the experience ahead. It's that electric moment when individuals unite, fully present and committed to a shared purpose, breathing in synchronized rhythm.
In essence, TeamReady is more than just a state of mind—it's a commitment to excellence through unity. It's understanding that our greatest achievements often come not from individual brilliance, but from the integration of diverse strengths aligned toward a common goal. Whether in sports, business, or life's everyday challenges, the TeamReady mindset transforms ordinary teams into extraordinary ones.
As you explore this concept, I invite you to reflect on your own experiences of deep collaboration and shared purpose. When have you felt this level of connection and synchronicity with others? How might cultivating a TeamReady mindset enhance your current relationships and endeavors?
Philosophy & Foundation
Developed from Pilot Trainee Harrison Deisroth's core principle: "Stay calm, stay relaxed, but maintain an aggressive mindset to stay in position." The Power of Pressure Management
Imagine two powerful volleyball teams competing through intense, extended rallies. As pressure mounts, the team that prevails is the one that best manages that pressure. Managing extreme pressure requires developing a team that actively embraces challenging situations.
Players must learn to:
- Battle with distractions head-on
- Transform challenges into stepping stones for success
- Generate positive thoughts about performing under pressure
- Find joy in the ability to excel under pressure
True pressure management isn't about avoiding distractions—it's about engaging them in battle. Success comes from:
- Settling into the intensity
- Finding joy in playing all-out
- Transforming stress into energy
- Reframing pressure as excitement
Core Benefits

Digest Distractions: A Journey Through Mental Training
Athletic Foundations
In competitive sports, I first learned to master distractions through hard work and discipline. The focus was simple but powerful: block out everything that didn't serve the moment.
Evolution of Practice
During college athletics, I elevated my mental game by incorporating breathing and visualization. These powerful tools strengthened both my physical training in the gym and my intensity on the field.
Surfing: Conquering Fear
My twenties brought new challenges through surfing. Facing overhead waves demanded a sophisticated combination of:
- Deep breathing techniques
- Detailed visualization
- Hours of practicing edge control sensations
Each session built confidence in managing fear through mindful awareness.
Race Day Mastery
The Peachtree Road Race taught me to thrive in chaos. Among 30,000 celebrating participants, I used audio visualization to transform potential distractions into energy. I would see and feel every step of the 10K course, embracing rather than fighting the festival atmosphere.
Present Practice
Today, I'm exploring Christopher D. Wallis's framework from "Near Enemies of the Truth," which breaks down emotional processing into three elements:
- View (Philosophy)
- Practice (Method)
- Fruit (Goal)
My Application
- Philosophy: Cultivate gratitude for every opportunity to handle disruption
- Practice: Rewrite internal narratives to embrace acceptance
- Method: Transform emotions by taking pride in distraction management
Teaching the Process
My current focus is teaching others to integrate thinking and feeling—understanding that the brain can only do one at a time. The approach is twofold:
- Generate the power of the thought: "I can handle this distraction"
- Shifting the focus to the physical sensations of movement while performing
The ultimate goal is maintaining presence and performance regardless of external circumstances.
The TeamReady Mantra: Win The Moment
- BREATHE - Digest and release negative emotions
- BELIEVE - Trust your training and team
- BATTLE - Give maximum effort and focus on sensations
- RISE - Pull together with fire and passion
