We've all been there, right? Something comes up that requires a specific action and you really don't want to do it. But at the same time, another part of you really wants to do it. You're in a state of cognitive dissonance, having inconsistent thoughts, beliefs, or attitudes, especially as it relates to the need for change.
Let's say you're ratcheting up your training program for this year’s marathon. You know you need to be more consistent in your thoughts about increasing your workload and being more prepared to give your best.
To Hit Refresh! means you are able to expand the awareness of your situation, make good decisions and condition your mind to want to take action.
The Hit Refresh! process is a metaphor for change. It can be:
- A picture or visual reminder that stimulates your feelings and desire to change. A sunburst that inspires you to get it going.
- A ritual of steps to embrace the challenge and change. Stop. Breathe. Evaluate. Breathe. Move forward.
- A form of mental conditioning where the conscious mind conditions the subconscious mind to battle with distractions and resistance to change. Breathe. Feel the excitement. State your intention with feeling -- I will expand my training with ease; I will work my new plan!
- A source of positive energy from a past experience that gets channeled into the present moment.
