Whether you are seeking to win, run a personal best or just complete the distance, the focus is the same. This is Primetime, a very special and unique opportunity to put your feelings first; to be grateful for the experience, excited to complete the event and committed to doing your best each moment.
HiLevel Coaching Points:
Be Grateful: Prior to the race, you feel the energy of the crowd and you embrace this opportunity to be part of the celebration. It’s a festival that honors the essence of fitness and strength of the human spirit. You are inner-directed--you breathe and settle into your emotions, you are calm and also eager for the start. You pause and give thanks--you are prepared and ready, and you have confidence in your ability.
Be Excited: As the race starts, you are present--you’re up for the challenge, able to set the right pace and be focused. The right pace will change based on how you are feeling, and the focus will be to generate and maintain the appropriate thoughts and feelings from start to finish. The right pace and focus will allow you to express all of the passion you have for your sport, accept the support of the people that put on this event and give back a sense of excitement to all involved.
Be Committed: Throughout the race, you perform within yourself being sensitive to your body’s ability to work your plan and feel strong. You push the limits of your endurance. You maintain your hydration and energy level to the best of your ability. You continue to breathe and stay present. You reflect on and accept the results of your efforts and work to savor every moment. You resist the temptation to judge, label or be critical of your performance in any way.
When you finish, you feel the rewards of having given your best effort. You experience the joy and satisfaction of completion and a surge of self-esteem related to your accomplishment. You are moved by the collective effort and spirit of the masses. And, you are healthy, happy and injury free. Now that’s HiLevel!
Best of Luck,
